B3 & B3 Lux
The primary source of inspiration for this pendant is clouds with their individual unique forms. In the same way as clouds fill the sky with motion and three dimensional impressions, Birgit Østergaard desired to design a lamp, which could bring the same feeling to our homes. This lamp is elegance and beauty combined.
With a girth on 90 x 90 cm the B3 Lux appears as a huge cloud bringing ease and elegance to the room. The lamp differs from the B3 in size as well as usability as it comes with a remote controlled dimmer. The immensity has appealed to several companies, who have used the lamps in their showroom or for other projects like library interior, hotels and restaurants.

The artwork was originally conceived for an art exhibition entitled “Sleeping Pillows”. The subtle satirical message coupled with its innocent and poetic expression caused a stir (Sleeping pillows have an ambiguous meaning; literally meaning sleeping pillow but on the other hand a Danish expression and pretext for passivity). Subsequently it was developed and designed to fit into modern contemporary homes. This lamp in particular has known great success both nationally and internationally.

This wall lamp is more likely to be perceived as a piece of art rather than a traditional light. It is formed by five equally sized squares, which are put together and constitute a rectangular. The sparkling lights within bring to the lamp in its entirety depth and power.

Inspired by the mysterious world of morels, Birgit Østergaard initially created this floor lamp for an art exhibition for Louis Poulsen. After years of work, the B6 Glow was finally presented to the public in the spring of 2006 and has so far been object of numerous editorial mentions in the press. The design of this model makes it very different from the other products on the market.

Looking out of the window one cold winter morning, Birgit’s eye was caught by icicles hanging from a window across. These naturally formed shapes had a sharpness and edge to them but at the same time, in the glance of sunlight, they felt poetic and warm. Icicles evolve and form themselves over time, and this inspired the creation of an object, which was in constant change. The small points of light combined with the texture of the sailcloth create a lamp seeming different from every angle.

The symbolism of icebergs is the basic idea behind the B2 lamp. When viewing an iceberg only a fraction of the entire iceberg can actually be seen. The lamp is an ironic reaction to the many people, who only live to exist. They are like icebergs, living with only the head above, and not the heart. Birgit Østergaard is what she does.

We believe that our homes and neighborhoods should be healthy, vibrant places that uplift the spirit and gracefully fit our needs. We call for an end to poor construction, bad design, misleading marketing, unfair lending practices and environmental neglect in the housing industry. We acknowledge our collective responsibility to create CLOSE, SIMPLE, LIGHT places to live that leave a positive legacy for future generations.

provides design focused information that homeowners can use to improve the quality of how and where they live. It takes its name from the slow food movement which arose as a reaction to the processed food industry. The sprawl of cookie cutter housing that surrounds us is like fast food - standardized, homogenous, and wasteful. It contributes to a too fast life that is bad for us, our cities, and the environment. In the same way that slow food raises awareness of the food we eat and how these choices affect our lives, Slow Home empowers you to take more control of your home and improve the quality of how you live while reducing your environmental impact and futureproofing the long term investment value of your home.
