Who is THEREdesign
Established in 1997, we are a diverse group of architects and interior designers known for insightful
and creative design work in the corporate, hospitality, academic and residential fields. In addition to
many commercial clients, we have designed numerous private residences, additions, condominiums
and lofts in the Boston area and abroad.
Working with THEREdesign
We provide thoughtful design that supports and furthers our client’s goals. We work
collaboratively with you to create interesting spaces, devise strategic ways to manage budgets and
provide support through the complex process of construction.
Our work is contemporary but we don’t have “a style”. We have a way of thinking about design
which is focused on how people live, work, learn and play in a contemporary world. We care
about how people move and interact with space and materials, how people are affected by colors
and light, and how places can affect attitudes and behaviors.
Design is not just about how things look. Good design recognizes opportunity and implements
strategies for capturing it; it solves problems and affects our feelings and actions. By learning about
our clients we can help discover and support your lifestyle and values.
Collaborating with THEREdesign
We recognize design and construction for the collaborative effort that it is. The complexities of
client programs, city and state regulations and building technologies, require a vast amount of
coordination and input from many sources. We are committed to working as a team to the mutual
benefit of all the parties. The ultimate success of the project is our first priority. We have a strong
belief in the collaborative design process and we’re dedicated to establishing and maintaining the
project vision from design concept to the technical details. We have a great reputation, not only
with our clients but with contractors, subcontractors, developers, consultants and the design firms
with whom we collaborate.

We believe that our homes and neighborhoods should be healthy, vibrant places that uplift the spirit and gracefully fit our needs. We call for an end to poor construction, bad design, misleading marketing, unfair lending practices and environmental neglect in the housing industry. We acknowledge our collective responsibility to create CLOSE, SIMPLE, LIGHT places to live that leave a positive legacy for future generations.
provides design focused information that homeowners can use to improve the quality of how and where they live. It takes its name from the slow food movement which arose as a reaction to the processed food industry. The sprawl of cookie cutter housing that surrounds us is like fast food - standardized, homogenous, and wasteful. It contributes to a too fast life that is bad for us, our cities, and the environment. In the same way that slow food raises awareness of the food we eat and how these choices affect our lives, Slow Home empowers you to take more control of your home and improve the quality of how you live while reducing your environmental impact and futureproofing the long term investment value of your home.
